What are the advantages of International Adoption?
The Birth Parents: In the United States, there is almost always some level of contact between the birth parents and the adoptive family. On the other hand, in international adoption cases the child is considered an orphan and the birth parents cannot get involved during or after the adoption process.
The Numbers: There are currently approximately 60,000 infants in the United States that are able to be adopted; There are 6.6 million infants available for adoption internationally.
The Requirements: The requirements of international adoption are less stringent. For example, some United States adoption agencies will only consider couples who are unable to conceive.
